January 19 One Year Bible Reading

Matthew 13:19,23

“The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it…The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”(NLT)

This passage in Matthew 13 is a portion of the parable known as the Sower and the Seed. Jesus gives us great insight to the process of preaching and evangelism and how God’s word works and the reasons it doesn’t work. When people hear the word and don’t understand it, Satan comes to steal the word from their hearts. When others hear the word and understand it, they produce a harvest. The key is in understanding the Word of God. Our season of fasting and prayer heightens the spiritual senses to perceive otherwise hidden things. It creates an alertness spiritually and allows you the ability to have insight to God, His Word, and what the Holy Spirit is doing. According to Jesus, when you understand, you will produce an incredible harvest. May this year be The Year of Blessing and increase in your life as you continue to pursue God through fasting and prayer.
